Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Facilities Technician to join our team. The Facilities Technician will report to the Supervisor of Facilities, this position shall provide a primary role in the operations and functions of the Facilities Department of the Aquarium, with final authority in such matters remaining with the President/CEO.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that building systems operate efficiently and that the physical condition of the building does not deteriorate
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices
- Possess a working knowledge of utility shut offs and the location of meters/monitoring devices
- Provide ground keeping services such as grass cutting, landscaping, and property management
- Perform building security, as necessary
- Execute work order requests as assigned in a timely fashion
- Ensure the availability and accessibility of carts, lifts, and safety equipment
- Maintains cleanliness of public areas, including mopping, sweeping, changing trash bins, and other miscellaneous cleaning duties, as needed.
- Cleans restrooms, wipe down/disinfect counter tops and other restroom fixtures and stocks restrooms, as needed.
- Clean fixtures, floors, mirrors, dispensers, changing tables, door handles, toilets, urinals, and showers in restrooms/changing facilities, and restock paper products, as needed.
- Clean parking lots as well as the sidewalks that surround the Aquarium of Niagara.
- Snow/ice removal from parking lots, sidewalks, loading ramps, and outdoor facilities
- Completes opening and closing procedures in an efficient and timely manner.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles as needed during hours of operation, and at the close of day move all trash to designated disposal areas
- Monitor inventory of supply closet and notify the Supervisor of Facilities of supply requirements
- Perform any tasks and responsibilities as assigned by Aquarium leadership.
Requirements
- Valid Driver's License required to operate company vehicles.
- Previous maintenance or building grounds experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively using the English language
- Possess basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, and be able to follow basic safety practices and procedures
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as function on a team
Working Conditions
- Must be able to stand and walk in extreme weather conditions for prolonged periods of time (i.e. sunny, wet, humid).
- Must be able to push, pull and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
