Job Description:
- Learns to oversee and direct the activities of yard personnel to ensure good customer service and the safe efficient movement of goods and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Learns to direct workers in loading, unloading and movement of materials utilizing material handling equipment and machinery. Learns to oversee the receiving of product and instruction of yard workers in storage procedures.
- Learns the scheduling and management of all deliveries. Learns to organize deliveries in an efficient manner to keep product moving and clients happy.
- Learns to monitor and appropriately address maintenance needs regarding forklifts and vehicles.
- Learns the Inspection process for the loading of material for outgoing deliveries to ensure load limits and safety regulations are followed and what the proper paper work procedures are.
- Learns to provide on the job training to new yard employees; including product knowledge of items stored in yard and warehouse, along with housekeeping and safety procedures.
- Learns to ensure that the yard area is kept neat and clean, to make sure scraps and yard debris are appropriately disposed of, to report safety hazards, and how to handle disciplinary action.
- Learns to assist customers in the loading and unloading of material; how to provide delivery status information, inventory availability, and answer related questions.
- Learns to understand and observe all safety procedures and practices and to ensure that employees understand the expectations regarding safety practices.
- Learns to evaluate and manage employee performance through reviews and on the job feedback.
Competencies:
- Ability to plan and coordinate work processes to maintain staffing and equipment efficiency.
- Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and multi-task.
- Ability to follow thru and execute on assigned tasks – delegating as appropriate.
- Advanced knowledge of operation and handling of all machinery and equipment used in the yard; maintains certification to operate.
- Ability to read and write work schedules and reports.
- Knowledge of basic math & counting.
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3 years of experience of performing and coordinating yard or manufacturing activities.
- Must have a driver’s license
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs frequently and on occasion up to 80lbs
- May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and kneeling.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.50 per hour
