Job Summary
This role supports physicians and clinical staff by helping ensure efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience throughout the clinic. Responsibilities include patient intake, obtaining vital signs, documenting medical histories, maintaining accurate medical records, coordinating patient care needs, and supporting daily clinical operations.
The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and compassionate, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment while providing exceptional service to patients and supporting the overall goals of the practice.
This role operates Monday through Friday, with working hours generally falling between 8:30 AM–5:30 PM +/- based on clinic needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and current medication information.
- Prepare patients for provider visits and ensure accurate documentation within the EMR.
- Coordinate patient appointments, referrals, laboratory orders, and follow-up care as directed.
- Assist providers and clinical staff with patient care and daily clinic operations.
- Communicate with patients regarding appointments, instructions, and care coordination needs.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure timely completion of documentation.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, supplies, and clinical equipment.
- Adhere to HIPAA, infection control, and safety standards.
- Support clinic operations through teamwork, flexibility, and a commitment to exceptional patient care.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current Medical Assistant certification required (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical medical assistant role.
- Oncology, infusion, hematology, or specialty practice experience preferred.
- Experience obtaining vital signs and documenting patient information.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and healthcare technology.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
