Program Description: Huntington Youth Court is a specialized project part of the Huntington Youth Bureau Institute serving as a positive alternative for youth who are involved with the traditional justice system and/or school suspension process through a restorative justice approach and practice.
Job Objective:
· To assist the Youth Court program with managing student volunteers and provide case management services to youth respondents 13-18. As well as implement community service opportunities for both volunteers and respondents.
Job Responsibilities:
· Attend Youth Court Trials
· Provide Case Management for respondents
· Assist in community service planning and implementation.
· Maintain professional relationships with School Administrators and Community members.
· Maintain communication with volunteers.
· Assisting with new member training.
· Plan and facilitate groups and workshops
· Responsible for Planning, implementation, and documentation of programming.
· Complete Statistical Monthly Reports
· Conduct School and Community Outreach
· Assist in Fundraising
· Participate in Staff meetings.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, human services, criminal justice, or related field.
· One year of youth related professional experience.
· Real Interest in working with at risk youth.
· Group work experience
· Possess good communication and organizational skills.
· Public Speaking
· Creative, problem-solving approach to meet youth and project needs.
· Able to work minimum 2 evening hours per week.
· Bilingual Preferred (Spanish or Creole)
· Ability to interface with diverse youth and agencies in the community.
· Demonstrate non-judgmental acceptance and open mindedness.
Job Type: Part-time
