About the role
A venture-backed hardware startup in San Francisco is developing high-performance power conversion systems for modern electrified machines.
The company is looking for a hands-on Electrical Engineer to support product development from design and simulation through hardware bring-up and production. This is a broad engineering position for someone interested in working across circuits, PCBs, wiring harnesses, laboratory testing, manufacturing equipment and production support.
Deep specialization in one area is not required. The ideal candidate has sound engineering fundamentals, learns quickly, takes ownership and remains persistent when solving difficult hardware problems.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex power electronics simulations
- Conduct parasitic extraction and analyze PCB performance
- Review schematics, PCB layouts and component selections
- Design, assemble, test and bring up production hardware
- Develop wiring harnesses, test setups and hardware interfaces
- Design and bring up manufacturing-line hardware and test fixtures
- Debug hardware issues involving EMI, grounding, thermal performance and manufacturing defects
- Use oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, multimeters and other laboratory equipment
- Work with firmware, mechanical, manufacturing and test engineers
- Coordinate with component suppliers and manufacturing vendors
- Prepare test procedures, design documentation and engineering reports
- Support products as they transition from prototype to production
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering or a related field
- Experience designing, testing or debugging electronic hardware through employment, internships, research or academic projects
- Understanding of circuit design and electrical engineering fundamentals
- Familiarity with schematic design, PCB development and board bring-up
- Ability to troubleshoot unfamiliar hardware problems
- Strong attention to detail and engineering judgment
- Ability to learn quickly and work independently
- Ownership, curiosity and resilience
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with power electronics, motor drives, inverters or DC-DC converters
- Familiarity with SPICE or another circuit simulation tool
- Experience with PCB parasitic extraction
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding, signal integrity or thermal design
- Experience with high-power or high-voltage electronics
- Experience developing manufacturing fixtures or automated test systems
- Experience supporting products from prototype through production

Work location
This position is based on-site in San Francisco, California. Regular access to the company’s laboratory, hardware and test equipment is required.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
