Direct Care Staff / Job Coach
Vocational Innovations is seeking dependable, compassionate, and motivated individuals to join our team as Direct Care Staff / Job Coaches.
Pay: $18.75/hr
Status: Full-time, 30+ hours per week
Schedule: Monday through Friday, start times vary based on the site’s needs
Location: 9776 Katella Ave., Anaheim, CA 92804
About the Role
In this role, you'll work directly with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them build independence, develop skills, participate in their communities, and work toward their individual goals.
This is a hands-on position for someone who enjoys helping others and wants work that has a meaningful impact.
What You'll Do
As a Direct Care Staff / Job Coach, you will:
- Provide direct supervision and support to clients throughout the day.
- Promote client independence, skill development, and community participation.
- Assist clients with arrival, departure, and daily transitions.
- Provide person-centered activities based on individual needs and abilities.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including toileting, hygiene, mobility, and personal care while maintaining client dignity and privacy.
- Implement Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and support clients in developing new skills.
- Follow individual care plans, medical protocols, dietary restrictions, and risk assessments.
- Implement approved behavior support strategies.
- Support clients during community outings, volunteer activities, and employment opportunities.
- Transport clients when assigned and follow agency pick-up and drop-off procedures.
- Complete required documentation, including progress notes, behavioral and skills data, incident reports, body checks, and community outing documentation.
- Respond appropriately to behavioral crises and medical emergencies using approved procedures and training.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, coworkers, caregivers, and other members of the client's support team.
- Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development.
What We're Looking For
Successful candidates should have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- The ability to obtain and maintain required background clearances.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good judgment and the ability to follow established procedures.
- The ability to maintain client confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- The ability to work independently while also being a supportive team member.
- A valid California Driver License and acceptable driving record when transportation duties are assigned.
Training
Vocational Innovations provides required training, including:
- CPR training
- ProACT training
- 40 hours of RBT training, to be completed within the first year of employment. RBT training may be completed on weekends, off-site and/or on-site.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, hands-on position. Employees must be able to:
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, reach, and lift throughout the workday.
- Assist clients with mobility and personal care.
- Lift, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Safely operate agency vehicles when assigned.
- Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
Direct Care Staff / Job Coaches work in day programs, transportation settings, and throughout the community with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
The position may involve supporting individuals experiencing challenging behaviors or medical emergencies. Employees are expected to follow all established safety procedures, client plans, agency policies, licensing requirements, and applicable regulations.
