Job Description
Teaching Hours:
Full-time between 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Daily Responsibilities:
*Lead instruction for children ages 3.0 to 5.0 (Early Childhood) in activities and lessons designed to promote intellectual and creative growth
*Caring for children with ratios of 1:10
*Create a fun, safe, and loving learning environment
*Follow schedules and routines to ensure adequate physical activity, rest, & play
*Serve lunches & snacks
*Rearranging Montessori shelves to correspond with monthly lesson focus
*Include fun sensorial activities, arts & crafts on Thursdays & Fridays
*Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, & staff
*Give positive feedback and instruction to students
*Communicate with parents on students' growth and progress
*Maintain the health and safety of all students
*Be a respectful and dependable staff member
*Can maintain a reliable attendance record
*Flexibility and Patience
*Sanitation daily of classroom materials
Qualifications:
*Commit to the entire school year. School is open year-round (with exception of Holidays ~paid)
*Candidate must be enrolled in the Oregon Background Registry before beginning employment
*Pediatric First Aid/CPR Certificate
*Food Handler's Card from Oregon Department of Health
*Child Abuse & Neglect course
*Experience in childcare, teaching, or other related fields. AA or BA in early childhood is preferred
*Passionate about working with children
*Knowledge of Montessori Method or willingness to learn on the job
*Excellent communication skills
Future Requirements:
*Continuous education and development of the Montessori curriculum
*Obtain 16 hours of training a year
