The Large Format Press Operator is responsible for all pre-press setup, printing operations, and production workflow to ensure finished products meet Payler’s quality standards and exceed customer expectations. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical skill, and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Operate and maintain roll-to-roll printers, flatbed printers, and pre-press equipment according to company procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
- Schedule print production and communicate job status, priorities, and progress with the Production Manager and finishing team.
- Inspect finished products for quality, accuracy, and consistency, including the use of a spectrometer for color management.
- Maintain accurate production documentation, including job notes, dates, initials, and material usage records.
- Communicate project details clearly and accurately with management and team members.
- Coordinate service or technical support calls for printers, computers, and related equipment as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels and maintain adequate supplies of media, ink, consumables, and cleaning materials.
- Assist with training and cross-training team members in pre-press and printing operations.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized production area, and notify management when tasks are completed.
- Stay current on industry trends, equipment updates, and best practices.
- Provide professional, timely, and positive communication with customers and co-workers.
- Ensure customer needs are met efficiently, on time, and in a cost-effective manner.
- Serve as backup support for assigned co-workers in accordance with company procedures.
- Properly utilize and maintain the Whole House Waste Log.
- Experience operating large format printers and related finishing equipment preferred
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
- Excellent attention to detail and color accuracy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift materials and stand for extended periods as needed
