PLC Programmer / Electrical Engineer
Day Shift - Monday - Friday
Position Summary
Design and modify PLC programs and electrical schematics (AutoCAD). Build, modify, and install electrical control panels. Apply electrical theory and related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery, control equipment, and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants and laboratories.
Essential Job Functions
- Design and modify HMI programs on platforms such as Allen-Bradley RSLogix 500/5000, AutomationDirect, Yaskawa, Schneider, Phoenix, and IDEL.
- Design and modify electrical schematics in AutoCAD.
- Build, modify, and install electrical panels.
- Troubleshoot PLC and other automation problems, including electronic troubleshooting at the component level.
- Provide technical assistance and resolution for electrical/engineering issues before, during, and after construction.
- Assemble electrical and electronic systems and solid-state equipment.
- Modify electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deviations.
- Set up and operate test equipment to evaluate performance of parts/assemblies/systems under simulated conditions; record results.
- Collaborate with electrical engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve development problems.
- Build, calibrate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical instruments or testing equipment.
- Analyze and interpret test information to resolve design-related problems.
- Write commissioning procedures for electrical installations.
- Prepare project cost and work-time estimates.
Required Qualifications
- Experience designing and modifying PLC programs used in manufacturing/production environments.
- Ability to design and modify schematics in AutoCAD.
- Experience building, modifying, and installing electrical panels.
- Ability to use test equipment (voltmeter and oscilloscope) to troubleshoot PLC and automation problems, including component-level electronic troubleshooting.
- Experience with AC/DC servo drives, encoders, linear actuators, instrumentation, and electronic sensors.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a self-directed environment.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to combine hands-on and strategic approaches.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to enter daily logs using a computer.
- Ability to determine causes of operating errors and decide corrective actions.
- Ability to use logic and reasoning to evaluate alternative solutions/conclusions.
- Ability to understand implications of new information for current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
Additional Qualifications (Preferred/Helpful Knowledge)
- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware/software (including applications and programming).
- Practical application of engineering science and technology (principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment design/production).
- Knowledge of English language structure and content (meaning/spelling of words, rules of composition, grammar).
- Knowledge of design techniques/tools and principles involved in creating technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and techniques for maximizing effective manufacture and distribution.
- Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.

- Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet).
- Ability to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
- Ability to combine information to form general rules/conclusions (including finding relationships among seemingly unrelated events).

Training
Training will be provided as assigned and required for the role.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
