Position Summary
The Production Control Specialist supports the Planning Department by assisting the Planning Supervisor in executing the approved production plan through production control, work order management, production tracking, barcode management, finished goods coordination, inventory support, and production reporting. This position works closely with Production, Warehouse, Logistics, Quality, and Inventory Control to ensure production schedules are executed efficiently, customer delivery requirements are met, and manufacturing data is accurately maintained.
This position is responsible for production planning support, production control, work order management, barcode management, production tracking, reporting, and cross-functional coordination. This position does not have responsibility for production personnel management, staffing, shift assignments, disciplinary actions, or shop floor operational decisions, which remain under the responsibility of the Production Management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Production Planning & Control
- Assist the Planning Supervisor in executing the approved production plan.
- Create, release, and maintain production work orders in the ERP system.
- Verify work order accuracy before releasing to the production floor.
- Monitor work order status and communicate schedule changes or issues to the Planning Supervisor.
- Ensure production orders are processed accurately and on time.
- Support production schedule adjustments based on operational requirements.
Production Tracking & Reporting
- Collect, monitor, and analyze hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly production data.
- Track production output, work order completion, downgrade yields, throughput, and manufacturing performance metrics.
- Prepare daily production reports and KPI summaries for management.
- Compare actual production results against production targets.
- Identify production bottlenecks, delays, and performance issues impacting production goals.
- Assist management by providing production data to support operational decision-making.
Finished Goods Coordination
- Coordinate outbound finished goods shipments based on customer sales order due dates.
- Work closely with Warehouse, Logistics, Quality, and Production teams to ensure products are available for shipment.
- Monitor shipment readiness and communicate delays affecting customer deliveries.
- Assist in ensuring customer delivery commitments are achieved.
Barcode Management
- Prepare, print, and distribute production barcode labels according to the approved production plan.
- Ensure barcode accuracy and product traceability throughout the manufacturing process.
- Coordinate with Production, Warehouse, and Quality to resolve barcode-related issues.
- Maintain barcode records within company systems.
Inventory Support
- Participate in monthly physical inventory counts.
- Assist with collecting, verifying, reconciling, and organizing inventory count data.
- Support inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Assist with inventory reporting and reconciliation activities.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with Planning, Production, Warehouse, Logistics, Inventory Control, and Quality departments to support daily manufacturing operations.
- Communicate production schedule updates and work order changes.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives related to production planning and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Two (2) years of experience in production planning, production control, manufacturing scheduling, logistics, inventory control, or operations preferred.
- Manufacturing experience required; solar manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience using ERP or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Ability to analyze production data and prepare reports.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout the workday.
- Frequent walking throughout production and warehouse areas.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to use computers and office equipment for extended periods.
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while in production areas.
Work Environment
This position works primarily in an office environment with frequent interaction on the manufacturing floor. The employee will routinely work with Production, Warehouse, Logistics, and Quality personnel to support manufacturing operations. Appropriate PPE is required when entering production areas.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
