Position Summary
The purpose of the Caregiver position is to provide care to residents under the supervision of a Manager while promoting resident dignity, independence and choice. The Caregiver regularly observes residents’ physical and mental conditions and reports changes to the supervisor, nurse, or appropriate medical personnel.
Duties:
- Attend to the needs of residents, which includes assistance with activities of daily living (i.e. personal hygiene and grooming, feeding and ambulation, medical monitoring, and other health care related tasks) within the confines of state regulations.
-Ensure resident safety and the maintenance of a safe environment.
-Promote self-help and independence of residents by encouraging the maintenance or attainment of the highest physical, mental and psychosocial well-being.
- Assist with lifting and transferring of residents, and respond to assistance pages promptly.
- Observe residents for changes in condition or behavior and promptly report changes to the appropriate licensed nursing personnel, Supervisor, or appropriate medical personnel.
-Complete Caregiver records, documenting care provided or other information in keeping with department, facility, and state requirements.
-Serve meals in the dining room, assisting residents at meal time, deliver resident trays, and assists with dining room clean up and maintenance.
-Coordinate resident care services with co-workers.
-Perform first aid and initiate emergency response procedures as required.
- Follow and support community fire safety and infection control practices and promptly report any unsafe conditions or equipment to immediate supervisor
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with geriatrics is preferred
- Knowledge of medication administration protocols and safety procedures
- Familiarity with resident rights and advocacy principles
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and assist with mobility needs
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
