1. Job Purpose/Summary:
The Sr. Shift Quality Technician position is to inspect in-process and finished product to ensure items meet engineering standards.
2. Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Verify acceptance criteria for first piece samples
- Conduct frequent inspections of in-process and finished products by using inspection plans, blueprints, demand lists, and/or appropriate IE000 Engineering standards. (Exceed sample planning quantities)
- Complete all quality steps to verify conformance.
- Support Receiving Inspection as required.
- Record inspection and test data using Visual database.
- Initiate non-conformances (NCMR’s) and Deviations if required.
- Recommend standard rework practices to shop floor leadership. Inspect reworked parts for final acceptance.
- Conduct final quality inspections on completed parts.
- Work effectively with shipping team to optimize workflow throughput.
- Maintain accurate data and records.
- Serve as ISO Internal Auditor
- Mentor molding operators in quality expectations/standards.
- Maintain good housekeeping, 5S and safety practices in work area.
- Perform related duties/testing as required.
- Serve as a quality advisor outside of core value stream for quality related issues. (In the absence of Quality and Engineering support on the off shifts, make quality determinations for questionable product outside of his or her value stream).
3. Skills/Certifications:
- Basic understanding of math and calculation of measurements.
- Use various measuring equipment to perform inspections
- Operate specialized testing equipment
- Work across multiple departments
- Act as Customer representative
- Have or obtain ISO Internal Auditor credentials within the first year of service.
4. Minimum Education & Work Experience Required:
- High school or GED diploma.
- 5 years of quality inspection experience across multiple departments at Polydeck OR 8 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Polydeck specific ISO Quality Training.
- Above previous experience in quality is a requirement for “Senior” designation status.
5. Necessary Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Good organizational skills.
- Basic computer skills entering data and using software packages such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to operate standard lab equipment, including Moisture Analyzer, Force Tester.
- Operate a variety of measuring devices; some CMM driven.
6. Supervisory Responsibility & Budget Accountability:
- Accountable for performing product inspections
- Entering and reporting non-conformances as required.
- To work safely and be alert for the safety of others.
- The job is performed in a manufacturing environment where dust and noise are prevalent.
- Accountable to the Poly Value Stream Manager.
7. Other Comments:
- Operate computer, precision measurement tools, measuring equipment, pallet jacks, and others to perform daily tasks efficiently and safely.
- Use independent judgement and discretion based upon the employee’s experience in the position and knowledge of the products, equipment, and services.
- Moderate levels of stress may be experienced in the performance of the job.
- Position is performed in a manufacturing environment which may consist of heat, dust, noise, smells from manufacturing environment and hazardous machining equipment.
