The City of Bend Fire Department is accepting applications for one (1) regular, full-time Fire Inspector in the Fire Prevention Division of the Fire Department. This is an hourly, non-exempt (overtime eligible) position represented by the Bend Firefighters Association (BFA). EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
This position performs inspections, code enforcement, fire and life safety education, fire investigation activities, and other community risk reduction functions. Under the general supervision of the Deputy Fire Chief/Fire Marshal and Assistant Fire Marshal, this position implements and supports the City’s fire prevention program.
The following duties are a sample of the major duties you will perform in this role and not intended to be an exhaustive list:

Conduct inspections of commercial, industrial, and public occupancy buildings.

Interprets and enforces adopted fire codes, ordinances, and regulations.

Provide fire and life safety education to businesses and the public.

Investigate fires to determine cause and origin and prepare technical reports.

Testify in court.

Maintain accurate inspection, investigation, and enforcement records.

Assist with emergency response, community risk reduction, and special projects.
