The focus of this position will be family law, with some criminal defense work available if desired. The candidate should be a self-starter and highly capable of self-management and direction. Duties:
- Advocate for clients in all phases of family law litigation, including divorce, custody, visitation, and support matters
- If desired, advocate for clients in criminal defense matters
- Draft, review, and revise pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and settlement agreements
- Conduct thorough legal research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of family law statutes and case law
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, and trials
- Provide strategic counsel and emotional support to clients dealing with significant life changes
- Work in collaboration with paralegals and support staff to manage cases efficiently and effectively
Requirements:
- Active license to practice law in the state of Tennessee
- Ability to self-regulate and seek guidance when needed
- Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience, with preference given to candidates with prior exposure to family law cases
- Proven ability to manage a full caseload with attention to detail and deadlines
- Strong oral advocacy and legal writing abilities
- Commitment to client service, empathy, and professionalism
- Willingness to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic legal environment
Education:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Certifications:
- Admission to the Tennessee Bar in good standing
Skills:
- Experience with Clio case management software preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Collaborative mindset with a solution-focused approach
Job Location:
Pay: $60,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
