Summary
Install, wire, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems on railcars while ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with production standards. Support electrical assembly, preventative maintenance, and system testing throughout the manufacturing process.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform electrical installation and assembly work on railcars, including medium-complexity wiring tasks.
- Install and connect lighting, HVAC wiring, communication systems, and other electrical components.
- Assemble wiring harnesses, crimp electrical connectors, and route wiring according to schematics.
- Perform continuity testing and assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical faults.
- Connect and disconnect railcars using both electrical and mechanical coupling systems.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to complete installations accurately.
- Follow established safety procedures and support preventative maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
- 3–4 years of electrical assembly or electrician experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or maintenance environment.
- Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and install wire harnesses.
- Experience with connector crimping, electrical assembly, and wiring techniques.
- Proficient with multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electrical diagnostic equipment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
- SAP experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Capable of standing, walking, and performing repetitive manual tasks throughout the workday.
- Ability to kneel, bend, stoop, and climb when required.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely.
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
