The Technical Services Manager provides operational and technical leadership to ensure the successful delivery of engineering, technical, and project support services across complex programs and projects. This role translates strategic business objectives into practical technical execution plans while ensuring that engineering excellence, innovation, sustainability, quality, and customer value remain at the forefront of project delivery.
The position serves as a key link between customers, project teams, and business leadership, driving the development and implementation of technical solutions that support Worley’s ambition to be recognized globally as a leader in sustainability solutions. The Technical Services Manager is responsible for fostering technical excellence, supporting multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensuring technical services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with business objectives.
- Lead the delivery of technical services across projects and operational activities, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, project objectives, and Worley’s strategic priorities.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary engineering and project teams throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Translate strategic direction into technical execution plans that support safe, efficient, and sustainable project delivery.
- Ensure technical solutions are aligned with customer objectives, regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
- Support the development and implementation of innovative and integrated engineering solutions that create long-term value for customers.
- Drive technical excellence across engineering, design, project execution, commissioning, decommissioning, and remediation activities.
- Review and approve technical deliverables, engineering methodologies, and project execution approaches to ensure quality and consistency.
- Manage technical risk identification, mitigation, and resolution activities across projects and operational functions.
- Collaborate with project management, construction, procurement, and operational teams to optimize project performance and delivery outcomes.
- Provide leadership in resolving complex technical, operational, and project-related challenges.
- Support resource planning and capability development to ensure technical teams possess the skills and expertise required to meet project demands.
- Contribute to proposal development, technical evaluations, customer presentations, and business development activities.
- Promote the application of digital technologies, data-centric solutions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery and customer value.
- Monitor technical performance metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, sustainability, and operational effectiveness.
- Foster a culture of safety, inclusion, collaboration, innovation, and professional development.
- Mentor and develop technical personnel, supporting knowledge sharing, succession planning, and career growth initiatives.
- Degree qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
- Extensive experience delivering technical services within the energy, chemicals, resources, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
- Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and managing technical activities across complex projects and programs.
- Strong understanding of engineering project lifecycles, including consulting, engineering, procurement support, construction support, commissioning, operations support, decommissioning, and remediation activities.
- Experience supporting customers through complex technical and operational challenges while maintaining focus on safety, quality, and business objectives.
- Advanced knowledge of engineering principles, project delivery methodologies, and technical governance practices.
- Strong understanding of technical assurance processes, engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and quality management systems.
- Ability to evaluate complex technical issues and develop practical, innovative, and sustainable solutions.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong commercial awareness.
- Knowledge of digital engineering tools, integrated project delivery approaches, and data-centric project execution methodologies.
- Understanding of sustainability principles and their application within engineering and project delivery environments.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives that enhance technical performance and operational effectiveness.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams within complex and fast-paced environments.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across customers, project teams, contractors, and senior leadership.
