Job Overview
The Busser is responsible for supporting smooth restaurant operations by maintaining clean, properly set, and well-organized dining areas. This role assists servers and other front-of-house staff by clearing and resetting tables, replenishing table settings, and ensuring guests have a clean and welcoming dining environment. The Busser plays a key support role in maintaining service efficiency and overall guest satisfaction.
This position operates in a fast-paced restaurant environment requiring constant movement, physical activity, and guest interaction. Work is performed both indoors and occasionally outdoors depending on the property layout. The role involves exposure to noise, uneven surfaces, chemicals, kitchen machinery, and potentially slippery or greasy floor areas. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to work efficiently in a high-volume hospitality setting.
Job Responsibilities
Table Service Support
- Clear and reset tables quickly and efficiently with proper linen, flatware, silverware, and glassware
- Assist servers by delivering water, bread, and other table-side service items
- Respond promptly to guest or server needs during service
Restaurant Cleanliness & Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, service stations, and workspaces throughout shift
- Ensure tables are properly set and ready for incoming guests
- Assist in keeping floors, aisles, and guest areas clean and organized
Guest Support & Service Assistance
- Provide friendly and attentive support to guests as needed
- Assist in resolving minor service issues or mishaps quickly and professionally
- Support overall guest experience by ensuring timely table turnover
Opening & Closing Duties
- Complete assigned opening and closing side work duties
- Assist in restocking service areas and maintaining readiness for service periods
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly stored and organized
Team Support & Coordination
- Communicate effectively with servers, hosts, and kitchen staff
- Support front-of-house operations to ensure smooth service flow
- Assist in other restaurant areas as needed to support operations
Job Requirements
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of restaurant experience required; prior experience in full-service dining environment preferred.
