In-Home Caregiver
Location: In-home (private residence) in South Kansas City near I435 and State Line Rd
Schedule: Part-time, 2 hours 4x weekly (8 hours weekly total for now with room for extra hours if needed)
Compensation: Based on experience
About the Role
We are looking for a FIT, ENERGETIC and positive caregiver/ companion for my mom, an older adult who lives independently and has mild vascular cognitive impairment. This role is ideal for someone with an OUTGOING PERSONALITY who can keep up with my mom's wit and sarcastic sense of humor and who is athletic and enjoys being outdoors and going for walks.
Responsibilities
- Outings & Excursions: Accompany client on light local outings, such as walks in the neighborhood and local parks and shopping
- Companionship & Engagement: Maintain a cheerful, positive presence; engage in meaningful conversation, storytelling and daily activities that encourage laughter and mental stimulation
- Transportation: Safely transport client to and from outings, appointments, or social activities using a personal vehicle.
- Monitor health changes and identify new concerns early
- Communicate clearly and consistently with family with updates
- Help implement our established care plan that supports safety and independence
Qualifications & Requirements
- Personality: Warm, empathetic, humorous, and patient with a genuine enjoyment of spending time with seniors.
- Experience: Previous experience as a companion, caregiver, or working in senior care/hospitality is required.
- Transportation: Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and reliable, insured transportation. (Vehicle must be later model, not wrecked and very clean)
- Background Check: Ability to pass a background check and professional reference check.
- Physical Ability: Able to walk alongside a senior at a comfortable pace and assist with opening doors or navigating gentle outdoor terrain.
- Reliability: Strong punctuality and consistent communication with the family.
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
