Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sandblaster / Surface Preparation Technician to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing surfaces through abrasive blasting and other surface treatment methods to ensure optimal coating adhesion and finish quality. Your expertise will contribute to the production of high-quality finished products, adhering to safety and quality standards. Duties
- Operate sandblasting equipment and hand tools to clean and prepare surfaces on various materials, including metal and composite components.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators, gloves, and protective suits to ensure safety during abrasive blasting and surface preparation activities.
- Interpret production documents, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately perform surface treatments according to project requirements.
- Apply coatings using conventional spray guns, airless paint sprayers, or powder coating equipment, ensuring even coverage and adherence to quality standards.
- Handle materials safely within warehouse or fabrication environments, including materials handling with forklifts or cranes when necessary.
- Conduct visual inspections using precision measuring instruments and visual color comparison techniques to verify surface cleanliness and readiness for coating or finishing.
- Maintain a clean work area, follow safety protocols diligently, and document production activities accurately in compliance with lean manufacturing principles.
Experience
- Prior experience in industrial painting, surface preparation, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of powder coating processes, auto body repair techniques, or construction painting surface preparation is advantageous.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, machining processes, and fabrication techniques is beneficial.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, production documents, and quality standards with attention to detail.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to surface preparation and coating application.
- Experience operating forklifts or cranes is a plus but not mandatory; training can be provided.
- Commitment to safety protocol adherence including respiratory protection use and PPE compliance throughout all tasks.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
