A Banquet Server is responsible for providing food and beverage service for events such as weddings, conferences, meetings, banquets, and special functions. They help ensure guests receive professional, efficient, and courteous service while following event specifications.
Banquet Server Duties and Responsibilities
Before the Event
- Arrange tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and decorations.
- Prepare service stations with supplies, glassware, silverware, and beverages.
- Review banquet event orders (BEOs) and event details with supervisors.
- Assist with room inspections to ensure readiness.
During the Event
- Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Serve food and beverages according to service standards.
- Refill water, coffee, and other beverages as needed.
- Clear used dishes, glassware, and utensils promptly.
- Respond to guest requests and communicate concerns to supervisors.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the event.
- Work closely with kitchen staff and banquet captains to ensure timely service.
- Follow all food safety and alcohol service regulations.
After the Event
- Clear tables and remove linens, decorations, and equipment.
- Break down and clean banquet rooms.
- Return supplies and equipment to designated storage areas.
- Assist with resetting rooms for future events.
- Dispose of waste and ensure all work areas are clean and organized.
Qualifications
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry trays, tables, chairs, and banquet equipment (typically up to 25–50 pounds).
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous food service or hospitality experience preferred but not always required
- Must be available during morning/afternoon shifts
