Electrician- PLC Technician/Programmer
Location: Graceville, FL
Shifts: 12 hr.-Day Shift with on call availability for nights/weekends

The Electrician / PLC Technician / Programmer is responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, programming, maintenance, and optimization of industrial electrical, PLC, automation, instrumentation, and control systems throughout the sawmill. This position supports safe, reliable, and efficient production by troubleshooting electrical and PLC failures, modifying PLC programs, maintaining HMI and VFD systems, performing electrical repairs, and supporting equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.
The position works closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Management to reduce downtime, improve equipment reliability, and optimize production. The employee must be able to safely work around high-voltage electrical systems, moving machinery, conveyors, elevated work areas, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and other industrial hazards.
What You'll Do
- Program, modify, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC-controlled equipment, including ladder logic, HMI systems, VFDs, sensors, and industrial communication networks.
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, including motors, motor controls, MCCs, electrical panels, control circuits, and three-phase systems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain electrical and control systems for sawmill equipment, including saws, debarkers, chippers, conveyors, edgers, trimmers, sorters, stackers, planers, kilns, pumps, and related equipment.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance, diagnose equipment failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions to reduce downtime.
- Assist with installation, commissioning, modification, and startup of new equipment and automation systems.
- Maintain accurate PLC backups, electrical drawings, control documentation, and maintenance records.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and production emergencies and restore equipment to safe operating condition.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Production, Engineering, and Management to improve equipment reliability, safety, and production efficiency.

Follow all company safety requirements, OSHA standards, NFPA 70E, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, fall protection, and other applicable safety procedures.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
-
Industrial electrical maintenance experience, working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Demonstrated PLC troubleshooting experience.
-
Experience programming or modifying PLC systems.
-
Experience troubleshooting industrial control systems.
-
Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.

Working knowledge of industrial electrical systems.
-
Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment.
Preferred
-
Technical degree, certificate, apprenticeship, or formal training in Industrial Electrical, Electrical Technology, Automation, Controls, or a related field.

Industrial electrician or journeyman experience.

Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC platforms.

Experience with Rockwell Studio 5000/RSLogix 500/5000.

Good understanding of Networking. Able to work with IT for replacement computers and Integrated computers.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to:

Stand and walk for extended periods.

Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in awkward positions.

Climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and elevated work areas.

Work from elevated platforms and designated equipment access areas.

Lift, carry, push, and pull tools, equipment, electrical components, and materials.

Work in confined or restricted areas when required.

Work around dust, noise, vibration, heat, cold, moisture, and other conditions common to a sawmill environment.

Wear required PPE.

Maintain sufficient physical mobility, coordination, and balance to safely perform electrical and controls work.

Work safely in proximity to moving machinery and industrial equipment.

Respond to equipment breakdowns and production emergencies.

Participate in safety meetings, inspections, training, and investigations as required.

Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Stop work when an unsafe condition exists and notify appropriate supervision.
