Position Overview
Join the Modus Advanced engineering team as a Manufacturing Engineer and drive process development and optimization for advanced manufacturing operations that support life-saving medical devices, critical defense systems, and aerospace technologies. In this role, you’ll develop manufacturing processes, solve production challenges, and collaborate with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver precision components where failure is not an option.

Key Responsibilities
Process Development and Optimization
- Develop and implement manufacturing processes for precision components and assemblies
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce lead times, and optimize costs
- Create detailed process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
- Conduct Design for Manufacturability (DfM) reviews with customers and internal teams
- Implement statistical process control and data-driven manufacturing solutions
- Assist in validating new manufacturing methods for emerging technologies and materials
Technical Problem Solving
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for manufacturing process issues
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality and production challenges
- Support failure analysis investigations
- Design and execute process validation studies
- Collaborate with Quality team to establish inspection criteria and measurement protocols
Customer Collaboration
- Support customer engineering teams with DfM feedback and manufacturing feasibility assessments
- Provide engineering support for prototype development through production scaling
- Participate in technical discussions regarding manufacturability, material selection, and process capabilities
- Conduct feasibility studies for new product introductions
Technology and Equipment Support
- Support evaluation and implementation of new manufacturing technologies and equipment
- Assist with capital equipment installation and qualification projects
- Develop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing aids
- Support R&D initiatives and new process development projects
Required Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
- Experience in precision manufacturing environments (aerospace, defense, medical devices preferred)
- Experience with manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, form-in-place dispensing, waterjet cutting, or similar
Technical Expertise
- Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
- Understanding of statistical process control, Six Sigma methodologies, and lean manufacturing principles
- Experience with quality management systems (AS9100, ISO 9001) preferred
- Knowledge of materials science and manufacturing materials
- Familiarity with ERP systems and manufacturing execution systems
