Job Summary:
The Class A-2 Driver plays a critical role in supporting daily oilfield operations by safely operating Class A commercial vehicles to haul equipment, materials, and production-related loads. This role is similar to the Class A Driver but includes expanded field support responsibilities and cross-training to assist with flowline operations, rig moves, and specialized equipment transport as needed. The Class A-2 Driver ensures all assignments are completed in compliance with DOT regulations, company safety policies, and environmental standards.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operates Class A commercial vehicles to transport oilfield equipment, tools, production materials, and other designated loads between field locations and company sites.
- Performs safe loading and unloading using winches, chains, tie-downs, and hydraulic equipment as appropriate.
- Completes DOT-required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and reports defects or maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintains accurate logs including ELDs, trip sheets, inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
- Assists with rig moves, flowline transportation, tank hauling, and heavy-equipment relocations as assigned.
- Supports field crew activities, including equipment staging, general yard duties, and basic field work during downtime.
- Utilizes appropriate PPE and follows all company safety protocols, including hazard recognition and jobsite situational awareness.
- Communicates with dispatch, field supervisors, and production teams to coordinate efficient delivery sequencing.
- Operates safely in all conditions including narrow lease roads, steep grades, inclement weather, and high-traffic production areas.
- Performs minor maintenance (fueling, greasing, securing hoses, checking fluids) and assists mechanics when necessary.
- Other duties as assigned to support safe and efficient field operations.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 2 years of CDL driving experience; oilfield or heavy-haul experience preferred.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- Strong understanding of oilfield transportation, load securement requirements, and Class A vehicle operation.
- Ability to maneuver large vehicles in tight, uneven, or congested lease locations.
- Competence in using ELD systems and completing all associated DOT documentation.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot basic vehicle issues.
- Excellent hazard recognition and commitment to safety-first practices.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing field needs.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and capable of working long hours or extended shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, or industrial operations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 75 lbs regularly and perform physical tasks including climbing, bending, kneeling, and extended standing.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions with exposure to dust, noise, extreme temperatures, and oilfield terrain.
- Must be capable of operating manual transmission vehicles and navigating uneven ground.
- Frequent exposure to heavy equipment, moving vehicles, and high-activity field environments.
