Exceptional Children (EC) TeacherJob Summary
Liberty Charter Academy is seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher to join our classical learning community. The ideal candidate is committed to helping every student flourish through high expectations, individualized support, and meaningful collaboration with teachers, families, and service providers.
As an EC Teacher, you will ensure that students with disabilities receive the specialized instruction, accommodations, and services outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). You will work closely with classroom teachers to promote student success within our rigorous, content-rich curriculum while fostering independence, confidence, and a love of learning.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with federal and North Carolina regulations.
- Provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities through inclusion, small-group, and/or individualized services.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies that support student achievement.
- Monitor student progress, collect data, and maintain accurate documentation to support instructional decisions and compliance.
- Coordinate and participate in IEP meetings, eligibility meetings, and reevaluations.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, goals, and educational needs.
- Collaborate with related service providers, school psychologists, administrators, and other educational professionals to ensure students receive appropriate supports.
- Maintain compliance with all state and federal special education requirements, timelines, and documentation.
- Foster a structured, positive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student growth, responsibility, and confidence.
- Support the school's mission by encouraging strong character, respectful behavior, and high academic expectations for every student.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and other school activities as assigned.
Requirements
- Current North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children (Special Education) is required.
- Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, IEP development, progress monitoring, and special education compliance requirements.
- Experience providing specialized instruction and collaborating with general education teachers.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation, timelines, and multiple responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to maintaining high expectations while meeting the diverse needs of learners.
- Previous experience in a K–8 school setting is preferred but not required.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $58,000.00 per year
