Overview of Position:
In collaboration with the practicing physicians, this position is responsible for implementing education material for Genesis Medical Group patients and office staff, specifically related to obstetrical education and care. Utilizing sound learning principles, this position provides one on one education for patients. Additionally, this position will assist with staff education. This position will assist with clinical triage of OB patients calling into the office and nurse visits.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1. Provide clinical education for all new OB patients and follow education as scheduled and/or directed.
2. Assesses the learning needs of outpatient clients within the organization.
3. Assist in clinical triage for OB patients contacting the office
4. Provide nurse visits for OB patients as scheduled.
5. Set up and lead staff education in the GMG office and associated departments.
6. Coordinates services with outside agencies as needed. (Ex: transportation, smoking cession classes)
7. Collaborates to research current practices. Plans and implements educational offerings.
8. Assesses socioeconomic indicators for successful behavior change, designs education, and performs appropriate referrals and follow-up as needed.
9. Facilitates both individual and group education sessions as needed.
10. In coordination with the manager and in accordance with Genesis guidelines, creates and maintains patient education materials.
11. Engaged and actively participates in practice meetings
12. Assists with employee classes and competencies.
13. Completes documentation within established guidelines to ensure timely processing for billing or reporting.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
2. Current Ohio RN License.
3. One (1) year Women’s Health and/or OB experience preferred.
4. BLS required or obtained within one year of hire.
5. Excellent interpersonal, decision-making, conflict resolution, and investigative skills.
6. Ability to apply adult learning principles to the classroom and other learning experiences.
7. Demonstrated excellence with listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a complex and changing working environment.
9. Excellent computer skills and knowledge of computer software, including programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
10. Knowledge of audio-visual equipment (laptop, VPU, Overhead) and able to select equipment best suited for the class.
