Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional support and care to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, home health environments, and community-based programs. In this vital role, you will assist clients with daily activities, monitor their health and safety, and promote independence while ensuring their comfort and dignity. This paid position offers an opportunity to work closely with diverse populations, including seniors, individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or those recovering from illness or injury.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe changes in health status to report promptly to healthcare professionals
- Support medication administration following HIPAA guidelines and care plans to ensure safety and compliance
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption as needed
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning personal spaces and common areas
- Document patient observations accurately and update care plans regularly in accordance with healthcare protocols
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster social engagement and mental well-being
Qualifications
- Prior experience in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care settings preferred
- Knowledge of patient care practices including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient monitoring
- Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, HIPAA compliance training are highly desirable
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s), autism or those requiring memory care is a plus
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when necessary for resident transfers or mobility assistance
- Strong observational skills for patient safety and health status updates
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare teams and family members
