We are partnering with a skilled nursing facility in the Omaha, Nebraska area on a confidential search for a Director of Nursing. This is a key leadership role for someone who is ready to step into a high-impact position where clinical standards, team stability, and regulatory outcomes all sit squarely on their shoulders.
This is not a “maintenance-only” DON role—this facility is looking for a leader who can actively assess what’s working, identify gaps quickly, and strengthen both systems and staff performance in a meaningful way.
The Opportunity
As the Director of Nursing, you will serve as the clinical leader of the building, responsible for setting expectations, driving accountability, and ensuring consistent, high-quality resident care. You’ll be working closely with the Administrator to stabilize operations, strengthen survey readiness, and build a more reliable nursing structure.
This role requires someone who is comfortable stepping into challenges directly and can lead with both presence and follow-through.
Areas of Focus
- Ownership of all nursing operations and clinical performance
- Maintaining ongoing survey readiness and addressing compliance risks early
- Building consistency in staffing practices and daily nursing execution
- Coaching nurse leaders and frontline staff to improve accountability and performance
- Monitoring clinical indicators and responding to trends before they escalate
- Supporting leadership alignment with the Administrator on facility priorities
- Reinforcing a culture where expectations are clear and followed through
Ideal Background
- Active RN license in Nebraska required
- Prior DON or strong ADON experience in skilled nursing strongly preferred
- Solid understanding of survey process and regulatory expectations
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams that require structure and accountability
- Experience addressing staffing challenges and improving clinical consistency
- Comfortable operating in a leadership role where visibility and follow-through matter
