Overview of the role
Supervise and evaluate crisis center staff, ensuring high-quality care and support while fostering a positive and growth-oriented work environment. Provide coaching, mentorship, and constructive feedback, and coordinate ongoing training to support staff development. Train new staff on crisis management, counseling skills, and the use of crisis center technology to ensure effective response to clients in need. Collaborate closely with crisis center leadership to ensure quality continuity of care for clients and effective service delivery. Ensure data collection and reports are completed in an accurate and timely fashion.
The Crisis Center Supervisor is responsible for supervising and evaluating crisis center staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality support to individuals in need. They provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and training to staff, fostering a positive, growth-oriented work environment and equipping them with the skills necessary to manage crisis situations. The Supervisor also offers real-time, compassionate, nonjudgmental support to clients via phone, text, and chat as needed. Additionally, they attend initial trainings (some will be during daytime hours) and all-staff meetings during daytime hours 1-2 times per month.
Location: CEDAR RAPIDS ONLY - This role is hybrid with shifts worked at the Crisis Center location in Cedar Rapids and from home; candidates must be available for two (2) full day of training in our Cedar Rapids office.
ALL OTHER LOCATIONS - The position has the flexibility to be hybrid at the Crisis Center in Cedar Rapids or remote within the state of Iowa or Illinois; candidates must be available for two (2) full day of training in our Cedar Rapids office.
Shift: Tuesday - Saturday 12pm - 8pm

What you’ll do

What you need
- Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field with two (2) years relevant experience OR master’s degree in human service-related field.
- One (1) year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Comfort using computer software including Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Electronic Health Records, etc.
- Basic typing and data entry skills.
- Private home office to ensure confidentiality.
- Reliable, high-speed internet at home (Minimum 15 Mbps download speed / 5 Mbps download speed; wired internet connection required) OR the ability to work all shifts from the Cedar Rapids office.
- Pass all background checks completed by Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
- Submit copy of college degree or transcript as required by licensure for personnel file.
- Live in Iowa.
- Successfully complete required trainings within required time periods.
- Experience in crisis services preferred.
- Education or training in trauma-informed care preferred.
- Experience in strengths-based practices preferred.
- Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques preferred.
- Ability to clearly communicate emotional support to people in crisis preferred.
- Background in motivational interviewing preferred.
- Knowledge/experience working in the mental health, substance use, and/or problem gambling field preferred.
- Preferences: Supervisory experience preferred (1+ years)
