WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Conduct clinical assessments using ASI and DSM-5 to diagnose substance use and co-occurring disorders
- Determine appropriate level of care and develop individualized, client-centered treatment plans using ASAM criteria
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions
- Coordinate care with referral sources
- Review and revise treatment plans; develop discharge and transfer plans throughout the treatment episode
- Document all services accurately in our EMR system
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Master’s degree in counseling or a related field
- Active NJ license — LPC or LCSW required
- Experience in mental health and/or substance use disorder counseling
- Knowledge of co-occurring disorders, evidence-based practices, and relapse prevention
- Familiarity with ASAM criteria and continuum of care
- Comfortable with EMR systems; strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with culturally and gender-diverse populations

Qualifications:
- To qualify for this position, all applicants MUST have a Master's Degree in Counseling, or a related field AND an active NJ license.
- Each applicant shall be either an LPC or LCSW
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Assessing the counseling needs of the clients;
- Assessing clients using the ASI or other standardized clinical interview tool, and diagnosing clients for substance use disorder using the DSM-5;
- Determining the appropriate level of care according to ASAM Criteria;
- Obtaining previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode;
- Unless clinically contraindicated, collaborating with the client to develop a written treatment plan that includes goals and measurable objectives, and is client centered, recovery oriented;
- Provide the substance use disorder counseling services, individual, group, and family sessions, specified in the client treatment plan;
- Reviewing clients throughout the treatment episode according to the ASAM Criteria, to determine the need for continued services, transfer, or discharge/transfer;
- Reviewing and, where necessary, revising the client treatment plan to address ongoing problems;
- Developing a client discharge/transfer plan to ensure movement to the appropriate levels of care;
- Contact, case consultation if necessary, and coordination with referral sources, (for example, mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, DCP&P);
- Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients;
- Providing active case consultation;
- Documenting all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals and follow-up in the client's clinical record, and providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records; and
- Must be willing to do groups
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Experience with EMR systems
- Ability to demonstrate a variety of models and theories of addiction and/or mental health concepts.
- Knowledge of best practice outcomes, policies and procedures and evidence based practices, relapse prevention, and continuum care for clients diagnosed with co-occurring disorders
- Understanding of diagnostic criteria for co-occurring disorders, and the ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
- Ability to demonstrate an understanding of diverse cultures and gender-specific issues and ability to incorporate needs of gender and culturally diverse groups into practice setting.
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
- Proficient computer skills.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $93,000.00 per year
