CNA - Certified Nursing Assistant

2nd Shift: 3p-11p

General Purpose:
To provide non-professional direct resident care duties under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel and to assist in maintaining a positive physical and psychosocial environment for the residents.
Qualifications:
Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the State or must, within four (4) months of employment, have completed State required training and a competency evaluation program.
Must have ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and to work cooperatively with other employees.
Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam if required.
Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Essential Job Functions:
A. Personal Care Nursing & Food Service Functions
Duties: Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, changing of bed lines, and positioning in and out of bed, chair, etc. Assists with resident recreation programs. Prepares residents for meals and snacks, assists residents in eating where needed, and records food intake
Reads and follows daily care plans; performs assigned restorative and rehabilitative procedures; reports changes in resident condition to nurse in charge; documents care provision on resident record/flow sheets as required and reports accidents and incidents; and provides nursing functions as directed by supervisor.
B. Safety& Sanitation Functions
Duties: Understands and follows safety and sanitation rules, and promptly reports and
violations to supervisor.
C. Inservice Functions
Duties: Attend orientation and in-service as required by the state.
D. Residents' Rights Positive Relationship Functions
Duties: Understand, comply with, and promote all rules regarding residents' rights.
Promotes positive relationships with residents, visitors, and government regulators, to
Include presenting a professional appearance and attitude.
Physical and Sensory Requirement (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):
Walking, reaching, bending, heavy lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages; ability to read and write, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions, ability to distinguish smells, taste, and temperatures, and ability to remain calm under stress.

Duties: Assist in admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
B. Staff Development Functions
Duties: Attend and participate in training, educational activities and staff meetings; assist
in orientation and training of other staff.
