The Matthews House seeks a collaborative and compassionate professional to support youth and young adults experiencing homelessness in their education journey. The Education Liaison serves as a critical bridge between youth and young adults experiencing homelessness, school districts, community-based organizations, and regional partners. Based within The Landing Youth Shelter in Loveland, the Education Liaison works to ensure educational stability, continuity, and postsecondary readiness for youth ages 15–21 experiencing housing instability and homelessness.
This position operates at both the student level and systems level, helping youth navigate educational pathways while also strengthening cross-system collaboration among school districts, community agencies, shelters, workforce programs, and higher education institutions.
The Education Liaison plays a key role in removing barriers to education, supporting graduation and credit recovery, increasing engagement, and helping youth transition toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency.

Salary Rate: $57,000-$69,000 (depending on qualifications)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Student-Level Support - 50%
- Support youth and young adults experiencing homelessness or housing instability in accessing and maintaining educational services.
- Facilitate immediate school enrollment and transportation in alignment with McKinney-Vento requirements and in collaboration with district McKinney-Vento Liaisons.
- Assist youth in identifying appropriate educational pathways including:
- Traditional high school
- Alternative education programs
- Online learning
- GED/HiSET programs
- Postsecondary opportunities
- Workforce and career pathways
- Support academic progress, attendance, and credit recovery efforts.
- Provide individualized problem-solving and advocacy to address barriers impacting educational success.
- Coordinate with shelter staff, case managers, school staff, behavioral health providers, and family members when appropriate.
- Support transitions between districts, schools, housing placements, and community programs.
- Encourage youth self-advocacy, goal setting, and long-term planning.
Systems-Level Collaboration - 35%
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships across school districts, community organizations, shelters, workforce agencies, higher education institutions, and regional partners.
- Coordinate communication between schools, shelter staff, case managers, and community providers.
- Help translate educational systems, processes, and requirements for non-school partners and families.
- Support continuity of services across district boundaries and systems.
- Participate in regional collaboration meetings, case coordination meetings, and community initiatives.
- Assist in developing referral pathways and cross-system communication structures.
- Provide presentations and outreach to school staff, district teams, and community partners regarding The Landing and educational support services.
- Promote shared accountability and student-centered approaches across systems.
Program Support and Documentation - 15%
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation, case notes, and data tracking.
- Assist with outcome tracking and reporting related to educational engagement, graduation, and postsecondary readiness.
- Support program evaluation and continuous quality improvement efforts.
- Participate in trainings related to trauma-informed care, youth homelessness, education systems, and cross-system collaboration.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, human services, psychology, counseling, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience working with youth and young adults experiencing homelessness, housing instability, trauma, or system involvement.
- Experience within and knowledge of education systems, including McKinney-Vento requirements and alternative education pathways.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across multiple systems and organizations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to trauma-informed, youth-centered, and equity-based practices.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Northern Colorado.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of regional resources and systems serving youth and families.
- Experience with cross-system collaboration and case coordination.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills preferred.
- Experience with data tracking systems and outcome reporting.
SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: This position is primarily based at The Landing in Loveland, Colorado, and throughout the community, including school districts, partner agencies, and community settings. . Some evening or occasional weekend hours may be required. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, centered around relationships, education pathways, and youth empowerment.
