We are looking for an individual with the compassion, organization, and drive to join our team (Wednesday-Friday Daytime Schedule). Searching for an Activity Assistant with experience working with individuals living with dementia, preferably bilingual English/Spanish or English/Tagalog.
Our Adult Day Service center provides a multi-cultural community of friends which enables our members to continue to live independently. By engaging in social and enrichment activities, our participants keep their minds sharp, spirits high, and provide a break for family and other caregivers. Daily activities include music, light exercise, group activities, crafts and games, and current events, as well as center-provided meals and transportation. Each center maintains the health and wellness of our participants with an on-site nurse .
The Activity Assistants are responsible for working along side the Activity Director in the planning and implementation of daily program activities, assisting with meals, daily livng skills (toileting, mobility/transfers), housekeeping, transport (on an as needed basis), and documentation functions of the program.
Responsibilities include:
- Observation of each participant and immediately reporting any changes in their condition to the Activity Director and Executive Director.
- Under the supervision of the Activity Director, assisting in the planning and implementation of all program activities including -
- Daily, light exercise to music
- Active team games
- Cognitively-stimulating activities
- Table games
- Arts & crafts
- Community entertainment
- Music
- Parties & holiday celebrations
- Cooking & workshop activities
- Sensory stimulation
- Assisting with meal service, followed by meal clean-up;
- Daily organization of the various common areas, kitchen area, and supply storage;
- Clerical duties including documentation, copying, and filing;
- Serving as transportation aide, as needed
- Assist with toileting, hygiene, mobility/transfers of seniors;
- Providing activity and transportation coverage as needed;
- Responding to adverse scenarios or emergency response as directed by the Executive Director and Activity Director.
Essential Functions
- In addition to the responsibilities detailed in this job description, the Activity Assistant should:
- Understand the needs of the elderly, in particular, the needs of those with cognitive impairments (memory problems, confusion, disorientation);
- Be sensitive to the needs of family and caregivers;
- Be available to work Monday-Friday daytime schedule;
- Exercise excellent judgement skills;
- Make a commitment and cooperative performance to attain care, organization, and programmatic objectives, which may entail performing duties not included in this job description.
TO BE A STRONG CANDIDATE FOR THE POSITION:
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), or experienced Senior caregiver (preferred (not required))
- Bilingual (English + Spanish or English + Tagalog) preferred (not required)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A passion for serving others – especially the aging population in the community
- Quick learner, detail-oriented, and resourceful
- Pleasantly persistent approach, with a flexible and positive attitude
- Ability to have fun while working in a fast-paced environment
- Prior experience in senior care, day program, or healthcare delivery is preferred
- US work authorization
- Have the ability to complete in person and online training.

Schedule:
- Wednesday to Friday part-time, 5 hours per day (likely to increase the hours as senior enrollment increases over time)(as needed )
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Caregiver Experience
- Valid driver’s license
