We are seeking a dedicated and experienced RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator Med-Surg (Charge) to join our dynamic healthcare team. Duties
- Provide clinical leadership by coordinating patient care activities across the medical-surgical unit, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and healthcare regulations.
- Supervise and support nursing staff, including assigning duties, managing workflows, and fostering professional development.
- Oversee patient assessments, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information while managing medical records and documentation.
- Assist with discharge planning, patient education, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams to optimize recovery and satisfaction.
- Conduct clinical evaluations including physical examinations, physiological assessments, and diagnostic evaluations.
- Manage complex cases involving critical & intensive care patients, utilizing knowledge of anatomy, physiology, ventilator management, IV infusion techniques, catheterization, and infection control protocols.
- Facilitate triage processes for incoming patients in emergency or acute care settings; coordinate utilization review and utilization management activities.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives by monitoring compliance with long-term care regulations and hospital standards such as NCQA standards.
- Support team management efforts by supervising nursing staff performance, conducting evaluations, and promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license with current state licensure.
- Extensive clinical experience in medical-surgical units; critical care experience preferred.
- Proven leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting; nurse management background highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding for documentation accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of hospital medicine practices including acute pain management, airway management, sterile processing techniques, and infection control protocols.
- Experience working in high-acuity environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers; ICU or emergency medicine experience advantageous.
- Ability to handle complex patient cases involving advanced procedures like cardiac catheterization or spinal taps.
- Excellent communication skills for effective team collaboration and patient interaction.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations including HIPAA, long-term care regulations, workers' compensation law, and state healthcare laws.
- Competency in medical terminology, medical imaging interpretation, specimen collection/processing, suturing techniques, and basic life support (BLS).
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
