Role Description
The In-Person Part-Time SAT & AP Math Instructor will provide classroom-based instruction to middle and high school students (grades 8–12) preparing for SAT® and AP® exams in mathematics. This is a part-time, on-site role located in Fullerton, CA, requiring consistent availability for scheduled classes, tutoring sessions, and exam prep workshops. The instructor will teach both small-group classes and private one-on-one sessions, held on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings and afternoons.
Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and delivering engaging lessons, explaining test strategies and content, assigning and reviewing practice work, and offering targeted feedback to help students improve. The instructor will track student progress, communicate with families or guardians as needed, and adjust teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs. Additional duties may include developing or refining curriculum materials, participating in internal training, and supporting a positive, encouraging classroom environment aligned with the organization's values.
Subjects Taught
- SAT® Math (grades 8–12)
- Core math courses: algebra, geometry, and calculus (grades 8–12)
- AP®-level math instruction
Qualifications
- Strong instructional skills in SAT® Math and secondary-level mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and calculus.
- Ability to design clear lesson plans, create practice materials, and adapt teaching strategies for differing learning styles.
- Excellent communication, active listening, and classroom management skills to engage and motivate students.
- Proficiency in assessing student performance, providing constructive feedback, and setting realistic improvement goals.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Education, or a related field; advanced degrees or teaching credentials are a plus.
- Prior experience with standardized test preparation, AP® instruction, or secondary-level teaching is strongly preferred, but not required.
- Commitment to fostering self-motivation, confidence, and independent learning in a diverse student population.
- Availability to teach on-site in Fullerton, CA, including evenings and weekends as scheduled.
Compensation
$40–$50 per hour, depending on experience.
