Position: Middle School Head Tackle Football Coach
Location: Veritas Preparatory Academy
Reports to: Academy Athletic Director
Seasonal. Fall Sport Season
Position Summary: The Middle School Head Tackle Football Coach is responsible for leading the middle school tackle football team and developing student-athletes in a safe, structured, and mission-aligned program. The ideal candidate will possess strong football knowledge, a commitment to player safety, and the ability to teach fundamentals while building character, teamwork, and accountability.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement structured practice plans that teach safe football fundamentals, including blocking, tackling, position skills, offensive and defensive concepts, and special teams as appropriate.
Prioritize student-athlete safety through proper instruction, supervision, equipment awareness, hydration, conditioning, and adherence to school and league policies.
Create a positive and disciplined team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, effort, coachability, and academic responsibility.
Provide individualized instruction and feedback to players, supporting their growth and development throughout the season.
Coordinate with assistant coaches to ensure consistent teaching, clear practice organization, and appropriate supervision of all student-athletes.
Communicate clearly and consistently with athletes, families, school personnel, and the Athletic Director regarding schedules, expectations, equipment, and team information.
Organize and supervise team participation in practices, games, meetings, and other football-related activities.
Represent Veritas Prep and the football program in a professional and positive manner.
Uphold the mission, values, and educational philosophy of Veritas Preparatory Academy.
Ensure compliance with all relevant school, league, safety, and athletic department policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous football coaching experience is preferred; experience coaching middle school or youth football strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of football fundamentals, rules, safe tackling/blocking techniques, practice organization, and age-appropriate player development.
Demonstrated commitment to student-athlete safety and welfare.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to motivate, teach, and mentor middle school student-athletes.
Commitment to the holistic development of student-athletes, prioritizing character, sportsmanship, academic success, and team commitment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with assistant coaches, parents, and school administrators.
Additional Requirements
Type of clearance: fingerprint clearance and background check.
Physical functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 50 pounds approximately.
Availability for practices, games, meetings, and other team activities during the assigned sport season.
