Solara Painting is seeking a Senior Estimator with 3+ years of experience in commercial and/or residential painting to lead the estimating process from initial bid through project award.
This role is responsible for preparing accurate takeoffs, developing competitive estimates, conducting site visits, and working closely with ownership and project teams to secure new work. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in fast-paced, bid-driven environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings, specs, and bid documents
- Prepare detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Develop and submit professional proposals and bid packages
- Conduct site visits and walkthroughs to assess existing conditions and scope requirements
- Review plans and specifications to identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for pricing and product selection
- Track and manage bid pipelines and deadlines
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and client discussions
- Assist in value engineering and cost optimization strategies
- Support project handoff to operations upon award
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in painting, coatings, or related trades
- Strong knowledge of commercial painting scopes, production rates, and materials
- Experience working in a non-union / open shop environment preferred
- Proficient in takeoff software and estimating tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously under tight deadlines
Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
