Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Activities Director to lead engaging programs and events that enhance the quality of life for residents in a senior living community. In this vital role, you will develop, coordinate, and oversee a diverse range of recreational activities tailored to meet the physical, emotional, and social needs of our residents. Duties
- Plan, organize, and execute engaging activities and events that promote socialization, mental stimulation, and physical activity among residents
- Develop personalized activity programs that cater to residents’ individual interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia support
- Collaborate with staff members across departments to ensure activities align with residents’ health plans and safety protocols
- Build strong rapport with residents through meaningful interaction and personalized engagement strategies
- Coordinate resident outings, special celebrations, recreational therapy sessions, and community events to foster a lively atmosphere
- Manage scheduling of activities to ensure consistent participation while accommodating residents’ routines and preferences
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, feedback, and activity outcomes to continually improve program offerings
Experience
- Proven experience in activity planning within assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments
- Strong background in recreational therapy or therapeutic recreation for geriatric populations
- Familiarity with Alzheimer’s care, memory support programs, and dementia-related activities
- Experience working with seniors who have disabilities or special needs in long-term care settings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, scheduling, and communication purposes
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative programs that foster resident engagement and well-being
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with residents, families, and team members
