What You'll Do
You'll own the final stage of bringing our projects to life while ensuring every product leaving APE meets our quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
Mechanical Systems Integration
- Assemble complex mechanical systems from engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Build precision mechanical assemblies including bearings, shafts, gearboxes, motion systems, linear rails, and structural assemblies.
- Integrate pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and electromechanical systems.
- Route wiring, tubing, and cable management for clean, serviceable installations.
- Install sensors, actuators, motors, and motion control components.
- Troubleshoot, test, and commission machines until they perform exactly as intended.
- Work directly with design engineers to solve integration challenges and improve future designs.
- Develop assembly procedures and continuously improve how our products are built.
Quality & Inspection Leadership
- Perform final inspections on precision machined components, weldments, fabricated parts, and complete turnkey assemblies.
- Verify dimensional, cosmetic, and functional requirements prior to shipment.
- Review engineering drawings, tolerances, and inspection requirements.
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections.
- Document inspection results and ensure products meet customer specifications.
- Identify quality issues, determine root causes, and work with engineering and manufacturing to implement corrective actions.
- Help establish and improve inspection procedures, assembly standards, and quality documentation.
Assembly Bay Ownership
- Own the organization, tooling, and workflow of the assembly department.
- Maintain a clean, efficient, and professional work area.
- Coordinate with engineering, machining, fabrication, and welding to keep projects moving.
- Ensure assemblies are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest level of workmanship.

Preferred Experience
Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable:
- Custom machinery
- Industrial automation
- Robotics
- Aerospace
- Defense
- Semiconductor equipment
- Packaging machinery
- Test equipment
- Special machinery
- Mechanical integration
- Precision assembly
- Mechanical inspection or quality assurance
Experience with:
- Pneumatic systems
- Hydraulic systems
- Servo motors and motion control
- Linear rails and bearing systems
- Electrical routing and cable management
- Precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, indicators, etc.)
- Reading engineering drawings
- GD&T
- Inspection documentation
- CAD (SolidWorks experience is a plus)
