Position Responsibilities:

Read tickets and/or job notes prior to sanding to verify options.

Transports frames from work station to holding area.

Inspect frame for areas that need repair.
-
Repair areas by using putty and putty knife to fill in cracks, holes and any imperfections.

Sand frame using jitterbug sander, hand sander, and/or flutter sander to smooth all areas of frame, paying close attention to carved detail.

Blow off frame with air hose.
-
Remove frame from table and push to Finishing Department.

Maintains neat and orderly work station.
-
Wears required safety glasses and foot wear; works safely and reports unsafe conditions to Dept. Supervisor.

Performs daily stretching exercises.

Performs other duties as required by supervisor.
Essential Skills and Experience:

Must have ability to learn quickly and recognize parts.

Understand correct placement of parts, right / left sides, front / back.

English required for reading tickets and instructions.

Must be able to setup materials in pots.
-
Must be able to understand and follow a finish specification for quality oriented cuts and use of correct materials.
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:

Previous knowledge of furniture assembly.
Physical demands and work environment:
Lift / Carry: Frequently lifting less than 20 lbs.; occasionally lifting in excess of 50 lbs.; team lift greater weights. Must be able to lift onto and remove frame from work table.-
Stand/Bend/Stoop/Kneel/Crouch: Must be able to stand 8+ hours, repeatedly bend, lift, stoop, kneel or crouch while sanding and push raw frames.

Push / Pull: Occasionally push/pull and manipulate piece for sanding. Must push frame to holding area.
Reach / Handle / Grasp: Repetitive use of hands required. Must be able to use hand, jitterbug, and flutter sander along with distressing tools and reach all areas of frame placed on workstation.-
Climbing: Must be able to climb up/down ladders between 2 – 8 feet tall using 3 point contact method to reach various heights requiring sanding or finishing or to clean booth and change out filters.

Tool Usage: Required to use glue gun, spray gun, rubber mallet, hammer, screw driver, channel locks, adjustable wrenches, and other sanding/finishing tools for entire shift. Use brass scraper to clean booths. Must use wash basin to clean tools.

Environment: Indoors, environmentally controlled; heated.

Automation: Provided scissor lift for positioning.

Color Determination: Must distinguish colors and finishes for match, accuracy and quality.

Near Acuity: Requires close vision of less than 3 feet, with or without corrective lenses, for precision.
