Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, setting up, and operating CNC machines—such as lathes and milling machines—to produce high-quality metal components. Duties
- Set up CNC machining equipment, including lathes and milling machines, ensuring proper installation of tooling and fixtures
- Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to determine machining parameters and tooling requirements
- Program CNC machines using G-code, M-code, and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software to produce precise parts
- Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and other measurement tools to verify part dimensions
- Perform quality inspections on machined parts through CNC quality inspection procedures and measurement techniques
- Adjust machine settings based on measurement feedback to maintain tight tolerances and optimal performance
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained according to safety standards
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Set Up Operator or similar role in manufacturing or metalworking industries
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code, with experience in CNC G-code programming preferred
- Proficiency in reading mechanical blueprints, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical drawings
- Familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software such as SolidWorks or similar programs for interpreting design specifications
- Experience operating machining tools such as grinders, hand tools, power tools, and tooling fixtures
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and mechanical blueprint interpretation skills
- Basic math skills for calculating dimensions, tolerances, and machine offsets
- Ability to perform manual machining tasks on lathe or milling machines when necessary
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction in production processes
- Attention to detail with a focus on precision measurement in machining using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and other measurement instruments
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machine issues quickly and effectively
