Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS) Mendota Mental Health Institute (MMHI) is currently recruiting for a Pharmacy Technician LTE. This is a reannouncement, if you already applied you do not need to reapply.

LTE positions are not civil service classified positions, do not give any rights to a permanent civil service classified position, and do not lead to permanent status.
Wisconsin residency is required for LTE positions.
No more than 1039 hours may be worked in one year.

MMHI is located on the north side of Madison and offers a beautiful campus environment, convenient free parking and an onsite workout facility. MMHI is an inpatient psychiatric facility, with one outpatient program, specializing in serving patients with complex psychiatric conditions, often combined with certain problem behaviors. A secure setting to meet the legal and behavioral needs of our patients is provided. MMHI is an integral part of the entire Wisconsin mental health service delivery system.

Position Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician, you are responsible for packaging, labeling, and distributing medications, drugs and pharmacy supplies to the Institution units. You will also assist with inventory record, storage of supplies and general maintenance of pharmacy area.

Salary Information

Pay for the position is $20.52 per hour. This is an LTE appointment and is limited to 1039 hours in a year.

Pay for current or former state employees will be set based on the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction. This position is classified as a Pharmacy Technician – Objective and is in pay schedule and range 06/11.

Job Details

All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DHS to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.

All appointees will be required to receive a TB test, which will be administered by MMHI, or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to their start date.

DHS does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. DHS is not an E-Verify employer nor a STEM-OPT eligible employer.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have all of the following:

Registration or ability to obtain registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). Registration must be obtained within 30 days of the start date. Please see the DSPS website for more information on registration.
Experience or training using a pharmacy computer system, such as Cerner, PharmNet, Epic, or similar., to conduct order entries and other pharmaceutical duties.
Experience or training performing medical distributions or using an automated dispensing machine.
Experience using databases and/or word processing programs.

Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following:

Experience checking inventory.
Experience preparing cassettes for medication distribution.
Experience working in a psychiatric setting, hospital, or healthcare setting.
Certification as a Pharmacy Technician.
