General Position Summary:
The Assistant Residential Manager is responsible for assuring that the support services that are being provided to people are person centered, effective and documented consistently with Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR), contractual obligations and Shangri-La policies, practices and procedures. Reliable and regular attendance is imperative.
Skill & Effort:
High school diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years’ work experience in the health and/or human services field. Two (2) years’ experience in position(s) that included training responsibilities is preferred. Must have current Oregon Driver’s License and acceptable driving record. Must be able to be approved by the background criminal history unit.
Ongoing excellent verbal and written communication skills with stake holders inside and outside the organization. Ability to assess risk as well as to make determinations about tasks and deadlines. Thorough understanding of residential support services. Extremely organized and detail oriented. Ability to quickly become proficient in all office technology required for the position to include; Office Machinery, MS Office programs, iLearn, Ulti-Pro, Office 365, Therap, Workday, and HRIS. Handles regularly assigned work which includes making decisions and acting under limited supervision. Some new or unusual work is performed with a moderate degree of supervision, assistance, and review. Planning processes will include determination of issues or obstacles and preferred courses of action. Ability to anticipate and plan for needed or upcoming changes six to twelve months into the future. Planning responsibility may also include identification of activities/solutions in concert with others.

Working Conditions:
Regular and reliable attendance is imperative to ensure we provide remarkable services to the people we support. The work schedule is mostly stable with very little fluctuation without prior notice. Occasional changes are based on the needs of the people supported as well as the program. Typically, this position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional exposure to temperature change, incident of noise, or interactions of a disagreeable nature. Minimal to frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying up to 50 pounds, up to the occasional 75 pounds. Regularly required to lift, push, or pull 15 pounds. Frequently required to lift, push, or pull 25 pounds. Occasionally required to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds. Rarely required to lift, push, or pull 75 pounds. Ability to kneel, couch, stoop, bend and the waist, twist upper torso, or crawl. Ability to manipulate objects with hands and fingers.
Ability to hear, see, and speak English. Physical capability involves use of office or equipment where some agility and hand eye coordination are needed. Duties and Responsibilities:
Individual Supports:
ISP Supports
- Acts as a member of ISP Teams
- Develop, attend, implement, train, and update ISP’s with input from site manager and direct support professional’s (DSP)
- Maintains current and accurate ISP’s for individuals per Shangri-La standard
- Ensure that all documentation is completed, and goals are being met
- Monitor Therap for each individual at a minimum of three times a week as it pertains to ISP’s
- Ensures that the supports, health, safety, and rights of individuals served are provided in a person-centered manner
- Coordinates, attends and participates in individual specific meetings
- Provides opportunities for individuals to learn about and engage in self-advocacy and community inclusion
Health supports:
- Maintains, coordinates, and attends (as needed) all health-related appointments
- Maintains current and accurate medical records for individuals per Shangri-La standard
- Monitors health services as ordered by medical professionals
- Monitor Therap for each individual at a minimum of three times a week as it pertains to medical
- Address any discrepancies in doctor’s orders, dosages, side effects, and other nursing considerations and make appropriate notifications
- Request and coordinate nursing services, health care advocate, and professional behavior services as approved by the ISP team
Employee Supports:
- Train, schedule and provide leadership to diverse staff to ensure that services for each person are delivered as defined in his/her Individual Support Plan
- Assist your Residential manager to maintain a work environment that emphasizes teamwork, cooperation, and safety
- Provide motivation and feedback to staff using positive communication methods
- Demonstrate the ability and willingness to address conflict, to facilitate resolution, and to develop/model professional and positive relationships with staff
- Routinely monitor staff training, Incident Reports, ISP goals, BSPs or other support documents
- Fill in whenever necessary to ensure compliance with the staffing ratio and/or to continue to foster teamwork and mentor staff
- Provides support in transporting people served to meetings and/or other community functions
- May act as a witness/support for disciplinary action
General/Operational:
- Ensure the mission, vision, and values of Shangri-La are being carried out
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with families, guardians, support staff and all other stakeholders
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the OARs, the agency’s policies/procedures and our Mission Statement
- Participate in Licensing Reviews and Self-Assessments and work with Residential manager on the Plans of Improvement
- Interact with those we serve in a manner that demonstrates respect, enhances dignity, builds self-esteem, and empowers personal choice
- Routinely monitor all documentation and incident reports
- Ensures the completion of Customer Satisfaction Surveys
- Maintains all required certifications and licenses throughout employment
- Forecasting departmental projections
- Attends and participates in required meetings and training
- Performs other duties as assigned
