Overview
Serenity Care at Home is seeking compassionate, dependable Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) to provide non-medical, in-home support to clients throughout Fairfield County. Our caregivers play an essential role in helping individuals remain safe, comfortable, and supported in their own homes while maintaining dignity and independence.
This position focuses on assistance with daily living activities and companionship for seniors and adults who need extra support at home. Prior caregiving experience is helpful but not required — paid training is provided for qualified applicants who share our commitment to compassionate care
Key Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Provide non-medical medication reminders in accordance with company policy
- Assist with mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics and approved assistive devices
- Prepare meals and assist with basic meal planning based on client preferences
- Perform light housekeeping related to the client’s care (laundry, tidying, dishes)
- Offer companionship and engage clients in conversation, activities, and routines
- Support clients with errands and appointments as permitted
- Maintain a safe home environment and report safety concerns
- Document services accurately in accordance with company guidelines
- Follow all Serenity Care at Home policies, CT DSS regulations, and confidentiality requirements
What This Role Does Not Include
To remain compliant with Connecticut non-medical home care regulations, caregivers do not:
- Administer medications
- Perform medical treatments or procedures
- Monitor or record vital signs
- Provide clinical or nursing care
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in home care, companion care, assisted living, or caregiving preferred but not required
- Experience supporting seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those with memory-related conditions is a plus
- Ability to follow care instructions and work independently
- Strong communication skills, patience, and reliability
- Ability to assist with transfers and mobility (physical capability required)
- Must pass background checks as required by CT DSS
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred
