This role is part of the Engines, In-Space Systems and Test Ops group and is in Kent but supports all Business Units and groups across all Blue Origin facilities.
As part of a hardworking team of technicians, you will assemble, repair, and evaluate electrical and mechanical assemblies for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of the production, evaluation, and development of Flight-grade Avionics. Work in the Avionics Hardware Lab requires a high level of technical proficiency in work such as soldering, component-level board work, mechanical assembly, and assembly wiring.
Minimum Qualifications:
o Familiarity working in an ESD EPA and with tool control/accountability processes.
o Experience using standard electronics assembly tools, hand soldering and basic electronic test equipment (multimeters and power supplies).
o Experience with applying torque to fasteners/components.
o Fabricating, terminating, and repair/testing of wire harnesses.
o 3 or more years’ experience in Aerospace Avionics or related fields.
o Experience inspecting and certifying work performed to relevant standards and specifications.
o Attention to detail and passion for space.
o Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
o Able to lift 50 lbs.
o Ability to work a 40-hour work week (4x10’s) with occasional overtime to support launch schedules.
o Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
o Experience with application and removal of polymerics (staking, potting. Encapsulation and conformal coating).
Preferred Qualifications:
o 5-7 years of experience in launch vehicle or propulsion system assembly fabrication, CCA or PCBA repair or component replacement.
o Experience with energized power/high voltage systems, battery systems or RF assemblies.
o Certification in and/or knowledge of IPC standards for assembly and inspection.
o J-STD/J-STD Space, 610, 7711/7721 Rework and 620/620 Space Addendum.
o Experience and capability to interface with Microsoft Office Suite, electronic work orders and configuration management systems.
o Experience with documenting non conformances and carrying out dispositioned repairs.
