Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Russian/English bilingual Immigration Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will have substantial prior experience preparing immigration applications and assisting attorneys in complex asylum and removal defense cases. This position requires excellent organizational skills, strong writing ability, and the capacity to manage multiple cases in a fast-paced legal environment.
Required Qualifications
· Fluency in both Russian and English (written and spoken).
· Minimum 2 years of immigration law experience (more experience preferred).
· Prior experience working on:
o Affirmative asylum applications (Form I-589)
o Defensive asylum cases before the Immigration Court
o Removal defense matters
o Motions and supporting filings
o EOIR filings and procedures
· Excellent legal drafting and writing skills.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict filing deadlines.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff.
· High level of professionalism, discretion, and client-service skills.
Responsibilities
· Prepare and draft immigration applications and supporting documentation.
· Assist attorneys with affirmative and defensive asylum cases.
· Draft declarations, affidavits, cover letters, legal correspondence, and exhibit lists.
· Prepare filings for USCIS, EOIR, BIA, ICE, and federal courts as directed.
· Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files.
· Communicate with clients in Russian and English.
· Translate documents between Russian and English when necessary.
· Collect evidence and prepare supporting exhibits.
· Monitor deadlines and maintain accurate case calendars.
· Prepare clients for attorney meetings and interviews.
· Coordinate with government agencies regarding case status and filings.
Technical Skills
Experience with legal case management software and proficiency in:
· Microsoft Office
· Adobe Acrobat
· PDF document preparation
· Electronic filing systems
· Legal document management
