Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, organizing, direction, reviewing and evaluating the day-to-day 24 hour dispatch trucking operations. Supervises the daily work of the assigned dispatch personnel to plan, execute, monitor and manage professionally the assigned drivers/equipment.
- Manages the daily operation ensuring customer satisfaction is successfully achieved
- Provide solid leadership for Logistics and Operation Coordinators and handles escalations and issues as needed
- Responsible for setting department goals, monitoring and controlling work flow and ensuring an effective operating department
- Ensure efficiency and safety of day-to-day operations for the entire fleet of tractors, trailers and driver force
- Monitor CSA Safety scores and implement training and disciplinary actions to resolve negative trends
- Work with Safety Department and keeping up to date with tags, titles, registrations, Heavy-Use tax, and all other taxes and fees required by DOT and US law to operate a motor carrier
- Work with Fleet Department Manager and mechanics keeping up to date with truck/trailer maintenance
- Coach, train, and develop dispatch team to exceed goals with 8-10 dispatchers
- Driver Management (ability to motivate and issue corrective actions) of over 50 + company drivers.
Job Requirements
- GPS tracking software knowledge
- Able to conduct driver and dispatch meetings
- Trucking industry management experience required
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Proficient in Microsoft packages including Excel, Word
- Proven organizational and managing skills
