Mount Airy Middle School is seeking an energetic, organized, relationship-driven educator to serve as a Health & Physical Education Teacher, Athletic Director, and Multi-Sport Coach. Position Overview
This position includes responsibilities in three interconnected areas:

Standards-based instruction in middle grades Health & Physical Education

Leadership and coordination of the middle school athletic program

Coaching and mentoring student-athletes through multiple sports seasons

Deliver engaging, comprehensive, standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina Standard Course of Study for Healthful Living

Create a safe, inclusive, and active learning environment for all students

Utilize data, formative assessment, and differentiated instruction to support student growth
-
Promote lifelong wellness, fitness, teamwork, leadership, and healthy decision-making

Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, grading, and communication with families

Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to support the whole child
-
Incorporate fitness, movement, and social-emotional learning into instruction
-
Coordinate and oversee middle school athletic programs, schedules, transportation, eligibility, facilities, equipment, and game operations

Ensure compliance with district and conference athletic guidelines and expectations
-
Create and monitor athletic budgets to ensure appropriate use of funds spread across all athletic programs.

Maintain organization and communication related to athletics, including parent communication, scheduling, officials, and student participation

Support coaches in building positive team culture and student-athlete development
-
Promote sportsmanship, academic accountability, and student leadership

Assist in growing community support and school pride around athletics

Coach one Tier 1 sport, as well as any additional sports positions that remain unfiled.

Develop student-athletes through skill instruction, teamwork, character, discipline, and leadership

Foster a culture focused on effort, growth, accountability, and relationships

Communicate effectively with players, families, staff and administration

Maintain high expectations for academic and behavioral success

North Carolina teaching licensure in Health & Physical Education

Previous coaching and/or athletic leadership experience preferred

Strong organizational and time-management skills

Ability and knowledge in the areas of field maintenance, mowing, field painting, etc.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail

Commitment to middle school students and developmental needs
