Lunch/Recess Supervision provide those important breaks from the day for students. These individuals supervise students during those break periods while encouraging safe activities and assisting in fostering positive relationships amongst the students.
Lunch Supervision at Sandpoint Middle School
At SMS, we understand the importance of giving students a break during the day, which they enjoy through lunch and recess. To ensure these periods are safe and enriching, we have dedicated "Lunch Supervision" on staff every day. These individuals supervise students during lunch and/or recess, encourage safe activities, and assist in fostering positive relationships among students. Assignment will be supervising SMS 7th and 8th Grade during Lunch/Recess - 2 hours/day on the 170 day work calendar.
Pre-Lunch Duties: Patrol hallways, deliver notes, and prepare for lunch supervision.
Lunch Supervision: Maintain order in the lunch seating areas, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment.
Bathroom and Hallway Monitoring: Oversee student access to bathrooms and hallways.
Recess Supervision: Supervise students during recess, whether inside or outside, promoting safe and engaging activities.
Post-Recess Duties: Assist and supervise students as they transition back to classrooms for afternoon classes.

Flexibility: Adapt to varying situations and respond effectively to unforeseen issues.
Relationship Building: Foster positive connections with middle school students.
Problem Anticipation: Identify potential issues before they escalate.
Conflict Resolution: Employ effective strategies to manage and resolve conflicts.
Weather Preparedness: Be ready to supervise students in different weather conditions.
