SUMMARY:
The SVP/CFO has the overall responsibility for the hospital’s fiscal planning, budgeting, forecasting and overall accounting practices and operating results. The SVP/CFO will direct and coordinate hospital activities concerned with financial administration treasury functions, budgets, general accounting, patient business services, and financial and statistical reporting. The SVP/CFO must work closely with the President and CEO, Executive Management, Medical Staff, the Board of Directors, Departmental staff and managers, vendors, and agencies.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Maintains current contractual arrangements with physicians, insurance companies and vendors.
- Responsible for systems and procedures necessary to maintain efficient financial operations including charges, expenses, assets and liabilities.
- Coordinates and performs special projects at the direction of the CEO.
- Assures goals are in place regarding cash availability.
- Ensures that Accounts Receivable are managed within less than 45 days.
- Assures inventory levels are adequate and accurately stated.
- Maintains and develops cost controls.
- Analyzes, consolidates, and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform tasks that meet the age-specific requirements of the persons, patients, vendors, and staff that the employee is charged to interact with as required by the position.
- Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
- Attends all mandatory education programs.
- Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
- Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
- Cross-trains in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in the department.
- Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
- Manages resources effectively.
- Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment and removes malfunctioning equipment out of service with timely reporting to the appropriate personnel.
- Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.
EDUCATION:
* Master's Degree in Related Field
CREDENTIALS:
CPA preferred
OTHER INFORMATION:
Minimum of five years in a CFO role required. Private sector and hospital experience preferred.
