Our client is a successful, peer-reviewed public accounting firm located in Fairfield, New Jersey, serving high-net-worth individuals, closely held businesses, and small to mid-sized companies throughout the region. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our collaborative team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional who enjoys building trusted client relationships, mentoring staff, and providing strategic tax guidance in a client-focused environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $145,000-$175,000
- $5,000–$10,000 Sign on Bonus
- Additional incentive compensation for new client origination

What You'll Do
As a Tax Manager, you will oversee tax engagements while serving as a trusted advisor to a diverse client base.
Responsibilities include:
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, S Corporations, C Corporations, trusts, and closely held businesses
- Manage client relationships and serve as the primary point of contact throughout the engagement process
- Provide tax planning and advisory services to individuals and business clients
- Prepare and review financial statements
- Supervise, mentor, and review the work of professional staff
- Collaborate with partners to ensure timely, high-quality client service
- Work directly with clients at their offices when needed
- Stay current on tax law changes and industry developments
Preferred experience includes:
- Gift, estate, trust, and tax-exempt entity taxation
- Audit and assurance engagements
Qualifications
We're looking for a seasoned public accounting professional who brings both technical expertise and exceptional client service.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- 10+ years of public accounting experience
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing complex individual and business tax returns
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and privately held businesses
- Strong client relationship management skills
- Previous experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities
- Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Office, and professional tax software
- Willingness to travel to client locations as needed
Preferred
- Active CPA license
- Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
- Experience with UltraTax
- Experience with gift, estate, trust, and nonprofit taxation
- Audit experience
